Each bout gives you a new problem: how close to stand, when to move, and what the other person is about to do. You get active practice with a partner and something to think about between exchanges. As the movements become familiar, you can spend more attention on those choices. Come for regular practice, meet people to fence with, and let your interest in the sport grow from there.
